The E-Z Log Sink is used to countersink the edge of the mortise so that the shoulders of the tenons made using the E-Z 45° Log Tenon Cutters fit deeper into the mortise.
Two bushings are included, one is for a 1-1/2" mortise, and the other is for a 2" mortise, which are the most common size tenons. They are secured to the bit with set screws. You simply secure the bushing that you will be using on the end, and store the other one on the top. They can both always remain on the Sink even while in use.
The bushings are milled slightly smaller than the size of the mortise bit so that it does not bind up during use, which is especially important when cutting green wood.
The E-Z Log Sink is NOT a drill bit. It is a countersink bit. You must first drill your mortise using a forstner bit or a flat spade bit. Once the mortise is drilled, you insert the bushing into the mortise, and slowly start countersinking the edges. You may have to drill deeper mortises so that the log tenon can be inserted deeper into the mortise.
E-Z Log Sink is mounted to any 1/2" electric drill.
