THE ''EVERYTHING" TREE STAND I made this tree stand back in the 1980's, and it's still solid. Living in a very small house at the time, I needed a TV stand and a place to put my plants. This is made from a maple tree with several crotches that were in just the right spot. The shelves in the crotches and the table top are made from plywood. The base is made from 2 x 6's
![]() TWIG COMPUTER DESK AND MATCHING CABINET WITH SHELVES I used this computer desk for years until I grew out of it. Just have too many computer gadgets now. I had to "prune" the back to fit the monitor so I had some more desk top area. Underneath is a place for the computer tower, and a slide out drawer for a scanner or printer, with bottom shelf for more stuff . One thing about this "airy" desk, it's easy to plug stuff into your computer. There is also a drop-down keyboard tray. I took a basic wood frame and used brad nails to apply the sticks. ![]() ASHTRAY & INCENSE BURNER This slice of poplar log is routered out and has a metal insert. A hole has been drilled at the proper angle so that when stick incense is inserted the ashes fall directly into the metal insert.
![]() TRINKET/JEWELRY BOXES Made from a slice of pine branch, some boxes have leather hinges, some metal hinges, and some swivel open. RUSTIC PICTURE FRAMES IN DIFFERENT STYLES
![]()
These are very easy to make if you have a pre-built or store bought wooden frame. Simple gather some rustic twigs, pine cones, birch bark, glue, brad nails, and maybe some paint. A hot glue gun works very well for some stuff. If you have a woodburning pen you can sketch out a scene. ![]() TEA CANDLE HOLDERS A 1.5" hole is drilled into the tops of various sized pieces of logs or branches. Don't drill too deep. You want the metal container to extend past the top of the wood so that the wood doesn't catch fire. ![]() WOOD CLOCK Made from a slice of a large pine tree with a working clock. I made this for my boyfriend who has a cabin on a lake, so I "burned" in a map of the lake. Instead of using the regular clock numbers, I continued the nautical theme by using North - South - East - West as the clock numbers, which are also burned into the wood. And it's still ticking! ![]() BUILT-IN CABINET Use half-sawn branches as trim for cabinet doors. ![]() GARDEN BENCH Made from pine branches, and the seat and back are made from driftwood found in Lake Superior. It is actually comfortable to sit in, and very sturdy. No tenon joinery involved. ![]() ![]() LAMPS Left: Beaver killed log base. Shade is made from half-sawn willow twigs Center: Beaver killed log base with birch bark shade Right: Wood was taken from a large pine branch sliced off the trunk. Store bought shade. LOG JOURNAL WITH LEATHER HINGES Made from pine slabwood, the bottom is hollowed out slightly on the inside to hold a tablet of paper and a pen. Clasp is made from leather and a twig. BIRDHOUSE MADE FROM OLD LOG You can download the FREE ebook on how to make these bird houses. Click Here To Get The Free Book
TRUCK BOX AND TOPPER
The left pictures shows the first lid on the box. After a few
years I had to replace the lid, which is shown in the second photo.
There is a full page devoted to the truck topper.
Click here to see it. FAUX LOG WALL PAINTING One of these days I'll finish the eBook to show everyone how easy it is to paint your walls to look like a log wall. ![]() FISH SCULPTURE These are really easy to make and paint. Simply trace a photo of a fish onto a 1 x 4 board and cut it out with a jib saw or bandsaw. Get some acrylic paints paint the fish to make it look as real as possible. Get a metal rod, and a piece of drift wood or a half sawn branch for the base. Drill a hole in each and insert the metal rod. Drill a few more holes in the base. Purchase some fake grasses and/or flowers that have wires in them. Insert some into the holes you just drilled in the base. Bend the grass to make it look like it is flowing under water. If you are making a few of these fish, make each a different height, and group together to make it look like a school of fish. ![]() TWIG AND WOOD SLICE BASKET Get two slices of a log, and lots of twigs. Pre-drill small holes at the ends of the twigs, and use small brad nails to attach to the two wood rounds. To make the basket stand up straight, use two larger twigs at the edges of the base. DRESSER WITH SLABWOOD APPLIED TO SIMULATE LOGS An old $10 wooden dressed purchased from GoodWill was decorated with pieces of pine wood slabes to make it look like a log dresser. Screw the slabs on from the inside. ![]() HEADBOARD Made from a large slice of pine in the center, and pine poles. You can easily make this log bed using our E-Z Tenon Cutter Also, one of these days I will finish the eBook so you can see exactly how to build this headboard. You may want to check out the YouTube video located at the above link. ![]() PAPER TOWEL HOLDER Made with slices of wood, branches, and slabwood. ![]() MOSAIC STYLE WOOD FRAMES Made from small half-sawn twigs and branches. Contrast the colors by using red dogwood, maple, and peeled willow. ROUTER FERN CARVING Use a plunge router on any piece of wood to carve a fern.
