of wood was outstanding. You'll love it. Gorgeous wood.
I'm
keeping busy slicing and dicing.
Since it's
green wood, I will have to treat all slices with Pentacryl after
cutting, otherwise they will crack and warp for sure.
Depending upon the size of the slice, drying time will be anywhere
from one to three weeks.

Three linen scented candles with jute rope on
one slice of Balmagilead wood approximately 10" in
diameter by 2" thick. The wood slice is treated with
Pentacryl, sanded on two sides. The candles are 2.75" in
diameter, one at 8" tall, one at 6" tall, and one at 3"
tall, linen scented. The candles alone were $3, $5 and
$8 bucks.I used these candles for photography purposes
to be placed on this website and am no longer in need of the
candles. They have never been lit or burned. |

EXAMPLE OF
TREATED AND UNTREATED BIRCH SLICES
Click on either of the above photos to see a bigger
photo.
The birch
slice on the left was cut this past winter and left to air dry
without treatment.
The slice
on the right was cut and treated almost a year ago.
You can
see that both the bark and inner bark are separating from the
untreated slice,
while the
bark on the treated slice is very intact, and almost looks as though
it was a fresh cut.
Treatment
somewhat darkens the wood, but after the wood is sanded, it
looks like untreated wood.
